Hypnotherapy has been known since ancient times. There are opinions that it was used before all psychotherapeutic methods. There are many types of hypnotherapy and they are widely used in sweaty areas. Hypnotherapy is very important in medicine. Hypnotherapy is highly effective especially in neurosis, depression and psychosomatic diseases. Hypnotherapy is also widely used in organic diseases and positive results are achieved. Allergic dermatoses, eczema or bronchial asthma can be given as an example.
During hypnotherapy, attention is paid to the clinical symptoms of the currently "bulging" signs and they are addressed. If the hypnotist affects the patient through caress, eyes and words, the three centers located in the cortex of the brain, i.e. sensory, visual and auditory centers are inhibited and it becomes easier to fall into hypnosis.
Hypnotherapy room. For hypnosis, it is necessary to have a spacious, quiet, peaceful room, free from excessive sounds and smells. Light music can be played at a low volume. It is better not to have distracting pictures on the walls of the room, especially portraits of people. If 4 different pictures depicting the four seasons of the year hang on the wall, it will have a good effect on a person's psyche. The furniture in the room should be as open as possible. Of course, soft armchairs and other similar bed furniture must be present.
Hypnosis technique. There are different techniques of hypnosis. We will mention one of them. The stages of hypnotherapy are as follows.
Stage 1. Move the patient to a soft chair. Sit down in front of him. You should sit in the chair so that your eyes are above his face. With your right hand, gently grasp the patient's left arm, where the pulse is checked. Put your left hand on his right shoulder.
Stage 2. "Let yourself be free! "Look into my eyes," command in a bold voice. And you look not in his eyes, but in the middle of both eyebrows. Otherwise, if his gaze is strong, it can tire your eyes. In this position, stare at the center of both his eyebrows for 3 or 5 minutes. This position makes his eyes tired and makes it easier to fall into a trance. At this time, it is impossible to cough, make noise or do other actions that distract the patient.
Stage 3. In a slow, confident voice, look into his eyes and begin by saying: Your whole body is relaxed and warm. Your upper eyelids are getting heavy, you want to sleep, don't resist it. You are going to sleep now! Your sleep will not last long and is very useful for you. You will wake up with a healthy body and soul, and you will be light as a bird! Pain will leave you, your mood will be high.
Step 4. You are only hearing my voice. After a few minutes, you will fall asleep. You have an increasing desire to go to sleep. You can't resist it. Now I will count to ten and you will go to sleep.
Step 5. Count from one to ten wisely without haste:
- The upper lids are getting heavier and heavier
- You are only hearing my voice
- The desire to go to sleep is getting stronger every second
- Your body is relaxed. Your whole body is listening to me.
- Your eyes are closed. You are completely still.
- You are sleeping
- You are sleeping. You are sleeping.
- You are completely sleepy.
- You are sleeping, sleeping, sleeping.
- You fell asleep.
Remember: If the hypnosis room is suitable and the rules of hypnotherapy are followed, the patient will quickly fall into a hypnotic state. Here, of course, the skill of the hypnotist and his reputation are of great importance. The more practitioners a hypnotist has, the more people have heard of him, the easier it is to hypnotize anyone. Well-known strong hypnotists can immediately put a person under hypnosis with a few words and a sharp look and quickly reach the stage of somnambulism. If you want to learn hypnosis, you should try this technique on teenagers first. It is easy to hypnotize them.
If you want to make sure that the patient is in deep hypnosis, or you are sure of it, raise one of the patient's arms slightly, or say, "I'm going to raise your left arm up and you're going to hold it there." . The patient does the same. Because he only hears the hypnotist. If someone enters the room and gives such a task, the patient will not do it. Because he is completely subordinate to the hypnotist. The deep stage of hypnosis is called somnambulism. A person in this state can be made to walk like a bird, dance to loud music, jump like a deer, cry like a baby and talk about his forgotten childhood. Not all hypnotists can bring hypnosis to the level of somnambulism. Therefore, most hypnotists work by putting a person in a trance state. Good results can also be achieved in a trance state.
During hypnosis, whatever pain the patient came to you to get rid of, you should talk about that disease during trance or somnambulism. It is said that you will wake up completely free from pain, and from what disease he came to you to get rid of, he should definitely talk about that disease. For example, "You will now be completely free from allergies." "Now you will never have a headache again." "Now your paralyzed left arm will fully function." "Now you will be completely free from stuttering and start speaking fluently." "Now you will completely get rid of suffocation and start breathing smoothly." "Now your lost memory will be completely restored and you will begin to remember the events that happened" and so on.
Hypnosis techniques. De-hypnosis should also be done gradually. "Now I'm going to start taking you out of the hypnotic state. I count from 10 to 1”
Ten. You want to wake up from a light sleep.
Nine. You feel warmth all over your body.
Eight. Your whole body is as light as a bird.
Seven. You only hear my voice and you want to wake up.
Six. You want to open your eyes again and again
Five. You keep waking up listening to me.
Four. Your upper eyelids are very light, you want to open your eyes.
Three. Yes! You want to open your eyes.
Two. You open them now.
One. Open your eyes!
In this order, the patient is awakened. He will definitely wake up very light and still in a light trance. They talk to him about how he felt and what he heard. It is not necessary to talk about the illness mentioned during hypnosis after waking up. After a while, the patient is sent home in a healthy state. Depending on the need, the hypnotic session can be held 3-5 times. We have now talked about classical hypnosis and its use in medicine.
Ericson's hypnosis
Milton Erickson (1901-1980) invented another method of hypnosis. It differs from classical hypnosis in that the client is not reduced to the stage of somnambulism and is worked with in a trance state. Currently, this method is called "Erikson hypnosis" and is very widely used in medicine. Erikson said: "In order to get rid of pain through hypnosis, it is not necessary to put him into somnambulism, the same result can be achieved in a trance state."
In Erikson's hypnosis, the patient is not given direct commands, it is not said that you should go to sleep now. In simple words, the client does not dream that "I must now obey all the orders of the hypnotist without words." He is very free. It is even warned that you can stand on it during hypnosis, look out the window, and even stop the hypnosis session and leave. This method naturally removes the "internal resistance" to hypnotherapy and the client begins to feel very relaxed. Therefore, the achievement that was not achieved in classical hypnosis can be easily achieved in Erikson's hypnosis. Erikson's hypnosis is really easy to learn and can be learned by any doctor or psychologist interested in this method.
In classical hypnosis, the rule "You listen and obey" prevails, while in Erikson's hypnosis, work is carried out in the style of "Listen and if you want to obey". This freedom appeals to many people who are afraid of hypnosis, and not only the client, but also the hypnotist works freely. During hypnosis, Erickson may sit with the client with his eyes open and talk about other things, and after a while he can return to the hypnosis session by asking him, "How about we get to the main issue?"
During Erikson's hypnosis, various metaphors are used that are understandable to the client. The goal is to bring the client's internal resources to the level of consciousness and use them. During Erikson's sessions, the subconscious mind is definitely influenced and talks about mental peace, tranquility, beauty, self-love and love for people. Phrases are of course based on the client's personality type and temperament.
